breathe in, breathe out... breathe in, breathe out...
Chances are, if you've managed to randomly stumble across my blog, you've been experiencing some setbacks in life, and if you're enjoying life with a perfectly healthy body... Please take a second to thank God, then pray for those of us who aren't so lucky, and then well, read on my friend read on.
breathe, live, thrive...
Those three words, have basically been my "Fight Song" for the past few months. I suppose I should take a second to explain why I chose these three words, and the significance they can have on your everyday life.
BREATHE...
Like I said earlier, breathe in, breathe out. Take a deep breath and relax. On the hard days, on the days where it's a struggle to even get out of bed before lunch... Remember to breathe. Take a breath. Calm Down. Relax Yourself. It will all be okay. Your room will still be dirty tomorrow. The laundry will still be in a pile. You can hang out with your friends another time. When you struggle to remember how to carry on, simply remember to breathe because that's the first step.
LIVE
It's a simple fact in life, when you breathe, you continue living. Taking a few days to breathe... Breathing straight through that patch of rough days... When you finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, it's time to start living. Can your health really prevent you from living the life you want? Sure it can mean you won't possess the ability to run a marathon or knit a blanket, but should your health really control your entire life? Sure you probably don't feel like a normal human being, but you still need to live. Whether your definition of living is laying in the cool grass counting the stars, having a dance party in your kitchen, or laying in the middle of your blanket fort coloring with some brand new Crayola Crayons, you need to get out there and enjoy life. Sure your bed is comfy, but your bed will still be there when you need to take a break from living the crazy life I'm sure your living.
THRIVE
You wake up in the morning feeling energized and ready to go...(hah, is that actually still a thing?...) Like I was saying, YOU ACTUALLY HAVE ENERGY. You almost dare I say feel like a normal person. Those days that are so rare that you wonder if you'll even get another before the month is over. You know exactly which kind of day I'm talking about. Those days when you don't just live, you thrive. You thrive in the shoes you've been given. Your illness isn't going to get the best of you. Today, YOU'RE going to win. You aren't going to let some medical term placed upon you by a doctor define your day. You're going to eat that ice cream cone. You're going to go to that water park. You're going to go out with your friends. You're going to do whatever you want... because that's what we should be doing. We shouldn't stop living simply because our bodies don't function in the exact way science says they should.
So in the bad days, or even the bad moments, take a step back, remember to BREATHE and relax.
On the regular days, take a chance or two, remember to LIVE, take a few moments to do something you actually enjoy.
On the good days, THRIVE in the circumstances you're living in. Take chances. Have fun. Pretend to be normal. Don't just think you can, KNOW you can.
